Mind

Heart of the Sea Meditation

This is a meditation I created that I encourage clients to do at home. It’s a bathtub meditation that allows the client to self hypnotize into a trance/meditative state from the sound of their own heartbeat. Run a full tub of water as hot as tolerable, and just high enough to cover the ears but not the whole face. Depending on the type of tub you have you may need a bath pillow to keep the face above water. If you’re someone that falls asleep easily or has a hard time coming out of meditation naturally, set an alarm for thirty minutes. I like to put my legs up against the wall as well. I find that it assists the blood flow back to the heart, but this is optional. The important thing is that your body is relaxed and as comfortable as possible, so that all you have to focus on is your heartbeat. Close your eyes, clear your mind of all thoughts, and start breathing deeply in and out through the nose, focusing only on the sound of your heart. You may even visualize yourself floating in the warm, blue waters in the heart of the sea. I find this meditation to be highly invigorating, and it helps me connect deeper to my heart and higher self. Water is also a great conduit of energy, as some may recall from the famous water bottle experiments. Submerging in a bathtub full of water that is being charged with our own heart energy can be amazingly therapeutic! If you want to make things extra woo woo, put a piece of quartz crystal next to your heart. If you have an alter you can later add the heart charged crystal to it, if not, you can sleep with it under your pillow to help have a peaceful night’s sleep. Next time you’re in a public pool or hot tub, visualize sending ripples of love energy out from your heart and into the water, and watch how the energy of those around you changes. Water is life!

NLP

Neuro-linguistic programming is a pseudoscientific approach to rewire the brain for better, healthier communication. It can help people to heal and break free of the mental programs that hold them back in life by restructuring the thought process, recognizing and breaking patterns, and helping to close trauma loops.

EFT & TFT Tapping

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) are two modalities used to alleviate pain, phobias, anxiety, trauma, and negative conditioning. They may also help with weight loss, addictions, and many other health issues. Both utilize various tapping techniques along the meridians of the body to assist the flow of Chi (energy) throughout the body. These meridians are energy lines, and tapping on them brings balance to the body and may offer some clients temporary relief from mental and physical distress and pain.

Guided Imagery/Meditation/Self Hypnosis

Relaxation techniques that utilize all the senses and induce a trance-like state in the client to allow their own natural, inner healing to begin. These techniques can be incorporated into a massage therapy session, or be done separately. The deep state of relaxation may help reduce anxiety, stress, tension, lower blood pressure, and help with phobias and addictions.

Talk Therapy

Some clients like to zone out completely during a massage, yet many love to talk through the entire session. The talk therapy is just as needed that day as the bodywork. The session is a space where the client feels completely safe enough to vent about all the things they can’t talk about with friends and family. It’s easier to tell a stranger that will honor client confidentiality. Sometimes a sympathetic ear and voice of wisdom is deeply therapeutic for the mind, body, and soul.

Music & Writing Therapy

I emphasize to my clients to utilize these two creative outlets to help process triggers and heal their emotional and mental layers. I encourage clients to write The Book of You, and I have a wide variety of writing prompts to help assist them in starting that process.

Body

Kriya Dakini Therapy

This modality is one that I’ve created based on a combo of Kriya energy massage and the type of energy work/bodywork I have been doing most of my nineteen years as a licensed massage therapist. It’s an energetic healing dance between myself and my client. I allow the client’s energy to take the lead in this pranic dance. It involves therapeutic massage techniques that are intuitive to what the client’s body and energy are conveying to me. This modality utilizes the natural energies of the client’s body, my own Chi, and the Divine universal life force flowing through me. Kriya is a Sanskrit word meaning “spontaneous energy movement.” Spontaneous releases of energy, movement, and emotions, may occur during a session.

Chi Nei Tsang

In this modality I focus primarily on hiatal hernia adjustment, Psoas work, and GI issues. I also incorporate some of the Mantak Chia’s techniques to help balance the abdominal Chi through massage and breath work. The techniques are deep, but gentle, and they are designed to help the abdominal organs function optimally. It’s invigorating, detoxifying, and therapeutic for both the physical body and energy body.

Chakra Massage

This is a beautiful, sacred, signature healing massage that I’ve created to open, energize, and balance the seven chakras connected to the body. I incorporate the use of crystals, essential oils, symbols, tones, and affirmations specific to each chakra. The strokes are focused on simultaneously relaxing the mind of the client while revitalizing the energy centers of the body.

Deep Tissue Massage

A form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session. This type of massage is not recommended prior to a major sporting event as it may negatively impact performance in the event. However, it’s a great treat after events, or when you simply need to detox the muscles.

Pregnancy Massage

A style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation. I also verbally coach my prenatal clients on the importance of prenatal care and vaginal stretching to avoid tearing during childbirth, as well as after care tips on how to help the rectus abdominis split heal. This is simply advice, not hands on as it is of a personal nature.

Swedish Massage

A very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Reflexology

This style of bodywork focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.

Neuromuscular Therapy

A system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Thai Massage

This modality is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage, because the therapist uses their hands, knees, legs, and feet to move the client into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches. Clients say Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress and relieve pain, and help you function more effectively at work and home.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

A very light modality that aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. It’s only the skin that is being massage, not the deeper layers.

Hot Stone Therapy

A style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
